"The acts in this event combine to tell a larger story," says Akim Funk Buddha. "I met Jeff Newelt AKA JahFurry at Giant Step in 1994 and performed with Kochie Banton & Pat Cisarano in 1994 at their renowned RubADub Jazz shows. Connecting that part of my past to the present as well as shifting from SoulTrain dance to Afro-beat to Jamaican riddims mid-show accentuates the variety and inclusiveness of hip-hop culture as well as my own personal musical history. Minds will be blown and spirits lifted."
